1 House = 1000 Ho
mes is a housing aid project.

We propose, through a media campaign, to petition the Australian public to donate funds or realestate to our project . With the funds and the sale of either a single, or several houses in Australia, amenities, shelter, building technology and training will be provided in some of the world’s poorest countries for hundreds of individuals and families.

STRUCTURE

Concept:

1 House = 1000 Homes address global wealth disparity through the speculative financial redistribution of an Australian home. Comprising of an exhibition of 6 dynamic housing aid proposals conceived by grass roots NGOs from around the world, signature interpreitive artworks, an aid petition and series of public programs, 1 House = 1000 Homes contrasts the exponential growth of Australia’s metropolitan property market over the last 20 years against a continued need for basic shelter and amenities in some of the world's poorest countries.

Strategy:
Create project web site http://www.1house1000homes.com

Contact both established indigenous organizations (such as - Slum Shack Dweller International) and Australian aid organizations already engaged in providing shelter and amenities in communities across the planet.

Pay each organisation $750.00 AUD to compile a proposal. Each organisation will address the proposal brief in the same way: “With funding acquired through the sale of one or several Australian houses, our organisation proposes to...” The project has set a target amount of funding at $1000,000 AUD.

Exhibit the five proposals within the 1 House = 1000 Homes project exhibition commissioned by Performance Space. The exhibition will be held from 23 October – 14 November 2009 at Performance Space @ CarriageWorks.

Simultaneously launch media campaign, petitioning property owners to donate a single house.

Finally, the chosen project will be funded through administrative support of Habitat for Humanity.

Rationale:
The project aims to house and skill train as many individuals as possible, and framed as an art-work, comment on global wealth disparity.
